JUNI IM RHEIN-NECKAR KREIS 30” x 42” 2005
“Juni” is one of those quilts that just had to be made. As I drove around the county in which we live, I was struck by the graphic beauty of the many fields of young green wheat punctuated with red Flanders poppies. The occasional field of lavender in the background only completed the picture. Although many might question my use of so much blue sky to depict a scene in Germany, this is my perfect early summer day and I like blue! The quilt is made of commercial and hand dyed cottons plus dupioni silk for the poppies. The batting is 100% cotton. It is machine pieced, and machine quilted. The quilt is embellished with eyelash fibers and pearl cotton embroidery as well as a few beads. |
